Paired Reading

The name of Jimmy Carter essay is “Assault-Gun Ban Should Be Reinstated” where he writes about his thoughts on the Bill towards banning assault-guns. I like his points and he makes me feel as though he is a credible writer because of his experience and practice in hunting he has own collection of guns but his argument is that assault-guns are another level of protection and that it is unnecessary to have them. Although he gets off topic sometimes he gives great points and uses pathos when talking about the 30,000 casualties and many teens who pass away from self inflicted and accident shots by assault-weapons.

Jimmy Carter does a good job in this essay and what I would take away from it and use in my own writing is his uses of pathos and logos. He does a great job in making you feel sad and sorry for all those who have lose their lives and mad when he states that the drug cartel is using American made assault-weapons. I would also use his sense of research you can see he is heavily involved when he tells you about the bills, and statistics towards the wrongs in the use of assault-weapons.

How to Make a Great Breakfast

To everything in this world there is a beginning an intro, a start. For a catch there’s a throw, for a solution there’s a problem, for the day it’s the morning, and to have a good morning you must start with a belly filling breakfast. Like the one I have every single morning. “Hey, Giacomo can you teach me how to make such breakfast?” you might ask and the answer is “yes! yes I can”

Now to make a great breakfast to have a good morning it must be juicy, big and I guess we can make it nutritious. I’ll give you some steps, first you must chck your ingredients, second how much time you have because the key to breakfast is fast. You must do all these steps in a jiffy so it can be enjoyed at its maximum. Now to begin find bread preferably a bagel and put it in the toaster, while your bread is being heated put your butter next to the toaster while it heats so the butter will melt. Take out your ham and cheese to add on later, in the mean time grab your tuna, mayonnaise, and corn to mix it all up, also you should bring out to the table crackers and cream cheese. To get that toasty brown bread you are looking for it’ll take a while so go right ahead and start eating your crackers with your tuna and alternate with your cream cheese.

Ding Ding! the bread is ready this is when you slop the easy melted butter and add the ham and cheese. enjoy your toasty goodness with some iced orange juice. you must be stuffed by now but your belly isn’t quite full yet. so get your bowl of Special K cereal preferably the strawberry flavored one and pour in the milk. Now your stuffed like a turkey and late for school so brush your teeth and get a move on but don’t forget your apple and bottle of water. Now go out and have a great morning and thank me later!

5 Most Influential People

1. My Dad- Well my dad has been very influential these past couple weeks of school, because he’s been on my back in a positive manner telling me my responsibilities and what I need to do to be successful in college giving me motivational talks so I can get a move on what I need to do.

2. My Brother- I’ve always looked up to my brother since I was born but these first weeks of college it has multiplied because he is in his second year of law school and I look up to him a student roll model on how I have to study and how my work ethic should be.

3. My Friend, Daniel Cortez- My friend has been there for me when my bike broke which was my only transportation to school. He has been giving me rides everyday I have class and on days when I don’t want to wake up and I don’t want to go to class he’s there to influence me in a positive way and tell me to stop being lazy.

4. My Sister- Although very annoying my older sister calls me everyday to ask me how my day is and I love her for it because when I’m on a slump or not in a good mood because of a bad day she cheers me up and pushes me to stride forward and do my homework and chores around the house.

5. My Mom- Last but definitely not least is my beautiful mother has been there from the beginning reminding me to go to meetings and check up on my statuses on classes financial aid, and other obligations, and the best part is she’s not babying me but simply reminding me to do my responsibilities but having me do it on my own.

Words of Encouragement

Aly! I don’t really know you what well, I don’t know at all actually. Its kind of weird that we’ve been in this class together for a month already. Today has been a pretty relaxed assignment, and i hope we get more so we can keep knocking down these A’s like we did in that group assignment last week. You seem pretty laid back and a cool girl to kick it with, Which in reality is a good thing because every time I walk from class to class i hear people say the most ignorant things, but not you you’re the best! i haven’t spoken with you in detail on what you are studying and wanting to pursue. i know you’ll knock them dad because if you can tackle an assignment as silly as today’s with such enthusiasm than you can do anything. so i encourage you to keep staying true to yourself because you’re already an awesome person. oh! and keep sitting behind me so when Professor Dominguez puts us in group I don’t feel awkward choosing some one random. Keep on trucking and get that MDC diploma have a great day and semester!

Don’t Run In The Rain

“Don’t run in the rain” I’ve heard my mom say that a dozen of times when I was a fluorescent adolescent just wanting to jump around in the puddles. My mother has given me amazing advice some that have saved me from countless disastrous encounters, but none have humbled me more than “Don’t run in the rain”. The one advice I never listened to, the one I should have listened to the one I wish I did more than anything was “don’t run in the rain” and this is the story why.

My name is Giacomo Bacigalupo, my family is a soccer oriented family so naturally I’ve been playing since before I can remember. Come sophomore year in high school and I’m already a regular started on my high school soccer team, which is something that doesn’t usually happen. My club team was also doing well and me being a key contributor in our success. Trailing back a year I was the freshman that all the seniors on the team loved they would want me to sit with them during lunch, invite me to parties on the weekends and I was also getting a lot of playing time for a freshman life was good. So you could say I was pretty cocky and “cool” the year after.

One stormy and cloudy afternoon as I walked the halls of Killian High wearing my soccer jersey thinking I was the coolest sophomore across the land, the announcements rang and our principle Mr. Rodriguez began saying “Hello cougars, due to the rain outside we are granting you 15 minutes to get to class” meanwhile hearing this great news me and my soccer buddy started a master plan on how and where we would skip to but then our beloved principle finished his statement reminding us “don’t forget that we have midterms today and 15 minutes is more than enough to make it to class, be careful and have that cougar day”. As me and my friend grouched and procrastinated around the cafeteria we decided it was best to go to class.

The storm in my eyes had become a hurricane, the biggest Miami Dade County had ever seen. I only had 5 more minutes left to get to class. As I opened the door I saw 3 Hispanic underclassmen getting influenced by 2 Hercules looking seniors to not go to class. I got aggravated at the sight of this and feeling pride in being Hispanic I felt the need to guide my fellow brethren in the right direction. I built up enough courage and pointed two fingers to my eyes followed by me directing the same fingers towards my freshman brotherhood who I’ve never seen in my life and darted straight into the storm running and screaming to the next building.

By this time I was gaining speed and was running so fast that the rain drops were slowing down. Have you ever ran so fast you noticed you were running faster than usual? Well that’s how fast I was running. Meanwhile the 3 Hispanic freshmen were so inspired by my touching display of leadership that they followed my footsteps I did not know this had taken place. As I got closer to my destination I had noticed a massive lake of a puddle that had formed coming up, but I was running so fast that I thought I could clear it. Right before liftoff I decided otherwise seeing that this puddle was an ocean of rain drops. I tried to stop but my momentum was too great and I fell right into the sea. I got up quickly and reached the building. Soaking wet bubbles would pop out of my shoe every time I would take a step, as I thought to myself “that god no one saw that” the door burst open alongside a roar of laughter. It was the 3 freshman I had so gracefully inspired to follow the right path in life, and by the end of the day the cool soccer player had become the kid who fell in the puddle. So instead of being cocky and thinking you’re the best around remember “Don’t run in the rain”.

Hello

I’m sitting here trying to think of a new fresh creative way to present and describe myself without the whole cliché  “My age is so and so, I’m from here, I like this and that.” so this is what I’ve come up with. My name is Giacomo Bacigalupo, I’m 19 years old, what i like about myself is that I am a creative, sensitive, and physically active person. What I don’t like about myself is that I’m impatient, sensitive, and I can’t concentrate. I love the way I am but I have things to work on but like Ernest Hemingway says “The Sun Also Rises.”
